Who Let the Deniers Out?

Tim Dunlop has thrown down the gauntlet to climate change deniers at Blogocracy:

consider this an open invitation.  Any as yet unpublished dissenting scientist who wants a mainstream media platform for his or her views on the matter—on the science—is welcome to submit and I will publish it here for comment and discussion.  The usual editorial requirements apply (keep it to around 1000 words for instance) but basically, I will publish anything that tackles the subject.  Send it to me at tim.dunlop@gmail.com and include a brief bio that sets out your qualifications.

We have a healthy range of views expressed here on the topic of climate change, and comments often fill up with dissenters linking to the latest bits of information, so any such piece will get a fair hearing.  For those of us without an expertise in the science—and who therefore tend to accept the majority scientific position on the matter—it would be interesting to read such pieces and see what responses they receive.

A great initiative on Tim’s part – let’s bring the deniers out of their echo chamber of supporters and expose them to a bit of peer review from the mainstream.

I would add an additional challenge to any deniers wanting to take up Tim’s offer: don’t just tell us why the IPCC Consensus is wrong, also explain to us why your fellow deniers with contradictory explanations are also wrong. That is, if you are of the denialist camp that claims that the world is warming, but that the causes are not man-made, then call out the Bolt camp that claims that the world is not warming and state definitively that you disagree with them. As Tim alludes to in his post, the climate change deniers are hopelessly divided about why the prevailing scientific consensus on climate change is wrong. If they can’t even agree with each other, I can’t see why anyone would take their word over the overwhelming majority of the scientific community.
